The Project Officer will primarily be responsible for ensuring the smooth implementation of the 3RproMar pilot projects in the Mekong Delta on improved waste management and recycling. In his/her role he/she will contribute towards the achievement of the project’s contractual targets in Vietnam and do everything possible to ensure that the country-specific project’s targets are met.
Main responsibilities:
• Lead the implementation and coordination of pilot project activities on improving waste management and increasing plastic recycling in Soc Trang Province in the Mekong Delta for the reduction of (plastic) waste leakage, and be the driving force for progress together with local partners, such as DONRE, DARD, women group, fishing port administration, recyclers, waste pickers, etc.
• Communicate and facilitate with local partners on behalf of the project, and act as local spokesperson of the 3RproMar team;
• Ensure active continuous communication and reporting with/to project partners and project team;
• Build and cultivate networks and partnerships of relevant stakeholders regarding marine litter prevention in the Mekong Delta in general, and the implementation and replication of pilot projects in particular;
• Organize planning and monitoring workshops with local partners, capacity development formats, study trips, support in developing technical documents and knowledge products, as well as the organization of country-specific and regional events/workshops/roundtables in the field of marine litter prevention; represent GIZ at local stakeholder events;
• Handle paperwork and permits required by local agencies for the project implementation, field visits, etc.
• Ensure the connection, harmonization and added values between the assigned pilots and other outputs of the 3RproMar project
• Support the monitoring/evaluation/knowledge management of the project by collecting and adequately distributing information and relevant communication material about the activities;
• Support other activities in close coordination with the project team at national and regional levels.
YÊU CẦU CÔNG VIỆC
• University degree in the fields of waste management, environmental science, rural development, or a related field;
• At least 5 years of project management experience in the fields of municipal solid waste management, sustainable development or other relevant field;
• Strong networking capability and good communication skills with stakeholders from the public, private and informal sectors, as well as civil society and international organisations enabling collaboration to achieve joint objectives;
• Good knowledge of stakeholders, processes and institutional set-up of municipal waste management in the Mekong Delta;
• Familiarity with environmental issues in Mekong Delta especially related to municipal (plastic) waste management;
• Experience with working in international/multicultural work environment;
• Excellent spoken and written Vietnamese, complete fluency in English (spoken and written);
• Willingness to travel frequently to project areas;
• Experience with GIZ is a plus.
